Fitness & Wellness in Siem Reap: Gyms, Yoga & Spas
Facts checked 4 October 2026 — Each gym, yoga studio, pool and spa below was checked by opening the operator's own website on 4 October 2026. Facilities and hours change; reconfirm before visiting. Where pricing or access policy is not published, it is marked as unconfirmed rather than estimated.
Staying active in Siem Reap is easier than the town's relaxed reputation suggests, but choosing well takes a little homework. Gyms, yoga studios, resort pools and spas all exist, yet many don't publish their access rules or prices online, so the honest approach is to verify the basics before you commit to a membership or a class pack. Below is what we could confirm on each operator's own website, and what remains unknown.
Gyms and fitness centres
Meru Gym, at TUI BLUE Angkor Grace near Angkor Wat, is the most transparent option online. Its site states opening hours of 5:30am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 8pm at weekends, air-conditioned training spaces, more than 45 weekly group classes, equipment supplied by Technogym, and specialised rehabilitation programs. It presents its coaches, including a NASM-certified trainer, as qualified; that is the operator's description rather than an independent accreditation we verified.
Beyond Meru, Siem Reap has several large local gyms that residents commonly use. We could not open operator websites for those gyms on our check date, so we are not naming equipment, prices or facilities we cannot stand behind. If a gym matters to your routine, visit in person, ask what a day pass and a monthly pass cost, and check the equipment for yourself.
Yoga and meditation
Aum Yoga Center, also within the Angkor Grace complex, runs daily group classes across several styles — Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Aerial Yoga and crystal-bowl sound healing — and offers a 200-hour teacher training that the studio says is affiliated with Yoga Alliance International and the World Yoga Federation. We report that as the studio's own claim about its affiliation; it is not an accreditation we assessed independently.
Hariharalaya, a residential retreat near Siem Reap, is a different proposition: multi-day programs (a 16-day "life reset" and a 6-day immersion, per its site) with meditation, yoga, vegan cuisine and massage, and a stated digital-detox focus. It is somewhere to book a retreat, not to drop into a Tuesday class.
Swimming
Swimming usually means a resort or hotel pool rather than a municipal facility.
Navutu Dreams describes three outdoor pools set within more than a hectare of gardens. TUI BLUE Angkor Grace lists a "33 meters Bio Pool" among its wellness facilities — a figure taken from the operator's own description, not an official competition standard, and one we present as such rather than calling it Olympic-sized.
Access is the catch. Neither resort publishes a standard day-pass price or policy on the pages we checked. The practical move is to phone or message ahead, ask whether a day pass or a spa-plus-pool combination is available, and confirm the current rate before you turn up.
Massage, spa and wellbeing
Bodia Spa is the best-documented spa in the city. Its site covers locations in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, lists body massages, facials, body scrubs and packages performed in private treatment rooms, and advertises a membership card with a USD 10 registration fee offering discounts on treatments. That registration fee is a published, dated example; treatment prices are best confirmed directly.
Siem Reap is also known for blind and visually impaired masseurs, a tradition that began as a way to create skilled employment. These practices are widely recommended, but we could not verify an operator website for them during our check, so treat any specific venue as something to confirm locally rather than take from a list.
Access and pricing: expect to ask
A consistent pattern runs through this section: operators publish facilities far more readily than they publish prices. Retreats and gyms with a strong online presence will quote figures; day passes at hotel pools, drop-in yoga and individual massages usually require a question. When you do get a price, ask what it includes — a "pool access" rate and a "pool plus spa" rate can differ sharply. As a rule of thumb, Siem Reap is affordable relative to Western cities, but specific figures change and we avoid quoting them where they are not published.
Wellness is not medical care
A massage, a sound-healing session or a spa treatment can be genuinely relaxing, and for many people they are a meaningful part of life here. They are not medical treatment, and no spa or wellness centre should be presented as a substitute for a doctor, a physiotherapist or emergency care. If you have an injury, a chronic condition or a health concern, see a medical professional; our healthcare guide covers the practical side of that in Siem Reap. Keep the two worlds separate and you will make better decisions in both.
A practical starting checklist
- Decide what you actually need: strength training, classes, swimming, or relaxation — they live in different places.
- Check opening hours against your working rhythm; Meru's early weekday opening, for example, suits pre-work training.
- Ask about day passes and trial classes before committing to a monthly plan.
- Confirm pool access and spa access separately, and confirm the current rate.
- Reconfirm details a week before you go; hours and offerings change with the season.
Where VillageLife fits
VillageLife is a project in development in Siem Reap. Memberships are not open yet, and the fitness and wellness facilities we intend to include are planned rather than built — we will describe them honestly as they become real. For now, the operators above are the ones whose own websites support the claims we have made, and the rest is best discovered on the ground.
